My mother was originally a Pineo from Shubenacadie. Her father Frederick was the brother of Henry Pineo. The family owned Pineo's Meat Market in Shubenacadie for many years. Frederick's father was George Pineo from West Indian Road (also Shubenacadie area).

My name is Elizabeth Hammond and I am also a descendent of Jacques Pineo. My Grandmother was Kate Pineo, daughter of Bessie Pineo of Kentville Nova Scotia. I would like to know if anyone knows about Jacques parents back in Lyons. Were they tapestry weavers in one of the workshops in Lyons at the time the silk industry had been promoted in France? Did they own land in Lyons, and how did they come to escape? Was their house burned down, or still there? I saw on a French register once so many Pineos had been beheaded- those who stayed and came under the orders of the King. Also curious to know whether any family Bible survived, or any tapestries made by the family, survived.
